The high end price models can creep into the $1000 and come complete with a bike computer to log your workout, supper silent when using and very robust. We’ve all experienced it, sometimes more than others and usually when it is something we are passionate or dedicated about. If only we could bottle it from the times when we do experience it to the times when we feel tired or struggle to complete that daily workout.

If this sounds like you the good news is you are perfectly normal and go as far as to say if you didn’t feel demotivated from time to time then there’s something wrong.

Personally the problem I have found is that training can be great for the 1st couple of weeks, even months if you’re lucky but then the novelty starts to wear off a bit. How I was able to shift this way of thinking was to look at triathlon training as a lifestyle choice and not seasonal pursuit. How I was going to do this at the time I didn’t know but after some rigorous research, pattern changes determination and mental preparation the routine has been set. Best of all is the enjoyment I still get from triathlon training for the best part of 3 years.

Easy to say and it speaks for itself right?

Being the worlds fastest growing sport you can assure that it is now a house hold saying, but once you dig a bit deeper under the surface and you are introduced to a whole new culture of language, terms and slang.

I have been training and racing for a number of years now but I will never forget the time someone said to me:

“You need to reduce your time in T1!” & “Why don’t you try Fartleks?”

What was I supposed to say to that? For nearly a week I thought ‘T1′ was short for the toilet, after all I was training for 1st sprint triathlon race and taking on more fluids than normal.
